중학교 미술교사들의 교과서 선정기준과 절차에 관한 연구

Exploring a Standard and Procedure of Selecting Art Textbooks in the Middle School

본 연구의 목적은 미술 교과서 선정 과정에 대한 질적 연구를 통하여 미술교과서 선정과정에서 실제적인 기준과 문제점을 이해하고 개선방안을 모색해보려는 것이다. 연구의 대상과 방법은 미술교육과 대학원에 재학 중이며 일선 학교에서 3년 이상의 교육경력과 교과서 선정경험이 있는 미술교사들을 대상으로 인터뷰한 자료와 문헌을 분석하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면 미술교사들은 미술교과만의 특성을 반영한 미술교과서를 보는 기준부재와 짧은 시간, 행정적 절차의 어려움 교육과정 연수 및 이해의 부족으로 교과서 선정에 어려움을 겪고 있으며 이는 교사 개개인의 취향이 교과서 선정에 반영되는 결과를 초래했다. 이에 한 학교에 여러 명의 교사들이 교과서를 선정할 경우, 의견 일치의 어려움을 보이며 단독 선정할 경우에 자신의 선택에 대한 부담감을 가지고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이와 같은 문제점들을 극복하기 위한 대안으로 현장 교사들은 넉넉한 시간 분배와 행정 절차의 간소화, 지속적인 연수를 통한 전문성 신장, 미술교과의 특성을 반영한 교과서 선정 기준 개발, 미술교사들 간의 의사소통의 장과 기회 등의 요구를 했다.

The purpose of this study is to explore a standard and procedure of selecting art textbooks in the middle school and is to suggest a solution and improvement plan for art teachers and students through a qualitative research method. Art textbooks are developed by a standard of national curriculum that is a written statement outlining education goals and is designed to present art education philosophies. For this reason. art teachers should be understand the standard and guideline of national curriculum before selecting a new textbook. Art teachers should provide students with diversity aspects of artistic processes. To achieve various aspects of artistic processes, art teachers should not only provide students with a variety of contents and studio activities that they have interests. but also art teachers should carefully select art textbooks. The participants of this research are graduate students of art education program who have 3 years teaching experiences and at least once selecting experience of a new art textbook under the new national curriculum. The findings are as follows: First. art teachers need more time. simplify complicated administrative procedures. and a standard that is reflected specially in the characteristics and contents of art education when they select a new textbook. Second. art teachers request a continuous training for strengthening how they select a right art textbook for their school and students. Third. art teachers ask a place and opportunity where they can share their ideas and thoughts between art teachers.
