Ted_ed를 이용한 교양영어 수업에 대한 학습자의 반응도 조사 연구

A case study of learners’ responses to a general English class using Ted_ed at college

The main purpose of this paper is to explore learners’ perspectives toward Ted_ed, which was used as a tool for a general English college-level class in Korea. The data were collected from thirty students who had enrolled in general English II for the winter session. The data collection included observation, semi-structured interview, and an open-ended questionnaire. According to the data, a majority of the students responded that they were satisfied with the Ted_ed. Especially, they favored the instructor’s teaching method using Ted_ed. They also reported that the Ted_ed videos captured their interests. The study suggests the following two implications. First, Ted_ed can be incorporated with group work considering individual learners’ characteristics. Also, an instructor’s careful efforts in selecting Ted_ed videos are needed because some learners might perceive the video clips in Ted_ed as difficult.
