유치원의 신문 만들기 활동에서 나타난 유아, 부모, 교사의 경험 탐색

The Implication of Newsletter Publication Activities for Young Children, Parents, and Teachers

본 연구는 유치원에서의 신문 만들기 활동을 하는 과정에서 나타난 유아, 부모 및 교사의 경험과 이러한 경험이 부여한 의미를 탐색하는데 목적을 두었다. 연구대상은 서울시에 위치한 H초등학교병설유치원 만 5세 유아 28명과 이들의 학부모이다. 유아들은 매주 주말지낸 이야기를 신문으로 만드는 활동을 하였으며 발행된 신문을 가정으로 가져가 부모와 함께 읽는 활동을 하였다. 연구기간은 2013년 3월 19일부터 2013년 7월 19일까지이며, 이 기간 동안 총 18회기의 신문을 발행하였다. 연구결과 신문 만들기 활동은 유아들의 읽기와 쓰기 동기를 증진시켜 유아들의 자발적인 읽기와 쓰기 활동을 격려하는 결과를 가져왔으며, 부모에게는 자녀의 문자지도를 흥미 있게 할 수 있는 기회를 제공하였을 뿐만 아니라 가족의 여가 문화와 가족애에도 변화를 가져오게 했다. 교사에게는 유아와 가족을 더 잘 이해할 수 있도록 하였고 유아에 대한 기록과 평가를 용이하게 할 수 있는 자료를 제공하였다.

This study was performed to investigate the implication of newsletter publication activities for young children, their parents and teacher. 28 five-year-old children who were attending S-kindergarten in Seoul and their parents participated in the study for 4 months. The children wrote stories about how they spent weekends with their family and their stories were published as a newsletter. The children wrote 18 stories during the study period. The study results revealed that the children's reading and writing abilities improved as time went by and they showed high levels of motivation for reading and writing. The activities had positive effects on their parents as well. The parents were eager to participate in the activities and wrote letters to their children. They were pleased for their children's changes and interest in reading and writing. Because of the study they even planned family events for weekends to provide rich experiences for their children. As a result the newsletter publication activities changed family culture. The activities also provided abundant information for the teacher on children's development of reading and writing, children's social development, and children and their family's needs and culture.
