SER-M 모형에 의한 컨테이너터미널 운영활성화 전략에 관한 연구

A Study on the Operation Activation Strategies by SER-M Model in the Korean Container Terminal Operator

This study designed a model for competitiveness improvement (SER-M) that Korean terminal operators could use in responding to changes in national and international logistics conditions and examined empirically with a structure equation model (SEM) the effects of the model on operators' competitiveness. The factors of the SER-M model for strengthening the competitiveness of container terminal operators were discovered to consist of twenty nine variables. Of the variables, six variables were analyzed to be the factor of management subject (S); three variables to be the factor of environment (E); ten ones to each of the factors of resource (R) and mechanism (M). The factor of mechanism was greatest in explanatory power, followed by the factors of resource, management subject and environment. The result of analysis suggests that the management of container terminal operators does not think the service/network factor consisting of nine variables needs to strengthen as for international competitiveness. In addition, since the external factor has great effects on international competitiveness of container terminal operators, not only the operators but also the government should lay stress on the four SER-M strategy factors.
