EBS 수능강의 수강이 교육격차 감소와 학교수업태도 향상에 미치는 효과 분석

The Effects of EBS Lecture on Decreasing Educational Gap and Improving Class Attitude

이 연구는 국가수준 학업성취도 평가의 고 1(2009)-고2(2010) 개별학생 연계 자료를 활용하여 EBS 수능강의 수강이 일반계 고등학교 2학년의 교육격차 감소와 학교수업태도 향상에 미치는 평균적 효과를 분석하였다. 그리고 EBS 수능강의가 개인과 학교수준에서의 맥락에 따라 다른 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 점을 고려하여 고l 시기의 학업성취도 및 학교특성에 따른 차별적 효과가 있는지도 함께 분석하였다. 이 때, 분석 자료의 표본선택편의를 측정학적으로 보다 엄밀하게 통제하고 분석결과의 일반화 가능성을 높이기 위해서 다층경향점수를 추정한 후 이를 활용한 역확률 가중치를 모형에 반영하여 EBS 수능강의 수강 효과를 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 국어, 수학, 영어 교과에서 모두 EBS 수능강의 수강이 평균적으로 학업성취도와 학교수업태도 향상에 유의한 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 고1 시기 학업성취도에 따라 EBS 수능강의 수강이 고2 시기 교과별 학업성취도와 학교수업태도에 차별적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 학교수준에서도 남녀별학, 비수도권, 기초생활수급권자 수, 학부모 요구 수준에 따른 차별적 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 분석 결과를 근거로 EBS 수능강의 수강이 일반계 고등학생의 교육격차 감소와 학교수업태도 향상에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있도록 정책 방안을 제안하였다.

This study examines the causal effects of EBS lecture on decreasing educational gap and class attitude of second year students in academic high school using 2009-2010 NAEA (National Assessment of Educational Achievement) results. In this study, we analyse average treatment effects and differential effects with Inverse probability of treatment weight from multilevel propesity score to eliminate a sample bias as well as increase the generalization. The results indicate that EBS lecture have significantly increase percentile of academic achievement of Korean, mathematics and English, and class attitude in terms of average effects. Also the results reveal that the EBS lecture effects vary by prior academic achievement and school context. In other words, EBS lecture are seems ro have a larger impact on academic achievement and class attitude where normal or basic academic skills than excellent academic skills. Based on these results, we suggest specific context ro propose useful policy relevant EBS lecture for contributing to reduction in the education and improvement of class attitude.
