Factors Affecting Working Life Satisfaction of the Adults with Mental Disorder

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to investigate the factors which affect the working life satisfaction of the adults with mental disorder and to provide the fundamental information that is required to develop a program their sustainable and stable working life. Method: This was a descriptive and correlational study in which 155 adults with mental disorder participated for 3 weeks by self administering questionnaire. We measured the following: Frequency Distribution, Average and Standard Deviation of all variables, Correlation Analysis, and Hierarchical Regression Analysis with SPSS/WIN 15.0 version. Results: Working life satisfaction has positive relationship with Social technology skill factors and also has positive relationship with vocational rehabilitation program factors. In addition, working life satisfaction has positive relationship with social environmental variables of favorable relationship with employer and colleagues, however it has negative relationship with perceived social stigma. Conclusion: It was presented that adults with mental disorder can manage working life well when working life satisfaction has high Social technology skill factors and when it has high social environmental variable of favorable relationship with employer and colleagues and low perceived social stigma.
