Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the pattern, management and related factors of postoperative pain. Method: The subjects included were 907 patients who underwent surgery. A computerized pain assessment program from ENR was used as well as admission record, nursing record, postoperative report and medication records. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 18.0 statistical program Result: 87.1% of the subjects reported post operative pain. At this time, pain score was 4.05 and noted as higher than moderate pain. Among patients who complained postoperative pain, 91.9% received analgesics and pain score was 4.19. As for analgesics medication, 58.4% received regular interval or PCA (patient-controlled analgesia) without PRN analgesics, and 11.2% received only PRN analgesics without continuous pain management after operation. NSAIDs was the most frequently used regular interval analgesics for pain management after operation and only 13.2% received opioid to manage pain after operation. Conclusion: The result of this study means a little under treatment of post operative pain. Further research is recommended to validate this data from multiple sites sampling.
