Research on residential satisfaction of military apartment

This research is to suggest residential environment improvement measures for servicemen by analyzing the military residential conditions as well as their satisfaction levels, and drawing the problems. To accomplish the research purpose to evaluate satisfaction levels for residential environment, questionnaire survey targeting servicemen and their families living in military apartments located in Injae, Yanggu, and Wontong in Gangwondo was conducted. The analysis measure was statistic analysis using SPSS20.0 statistic package for frequency and cross analyses to compare two groups for residing satisfaction level scores and consideration scores at the time of entrance to BTL apartment. Current professional soldiers were supplied with residences at no cost, but compared to conventional dwellings, buildings are smaller and deteriorated, and the deterioration level is increasing year after year. Even compared to residence supply policies of foreign military, current residence supply remains in such low level. Therefore, improvement measures are necessary. This study suggest below three measures for residential environment improvement measures for servicemen. (1) Improve location of military residence. In other words, when a military dwelling is constructed, gather them in a complex in small or middle sized cities located 30-60 minute away from downtown for road improvement, living standard, and quality improvement. (2) Expand size of military apartment to 24-32 pyeong, to secure spaces for each family member such as residential space for either children or parents. (3) With the improvement of interior factors including structures, sizes, as well as soundproof of bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom, it is necessary to improve external factors such as the expansion of amenities in the complex as well.
