조선시대 조각보의 그리드체계에 내재된 의미 해석

Interpretation of Meanings Inherent in the Grid System of Jogakbo from the Joseon Period

본 연구는 조선시대 조각보의 그리드의 구성자질을 고찰하여 O형의 프랙탈 구조를 밝힌 연구자의 선행연구에 대한 후속 연구로서, 의미의 관점에서 조각보의 그리드체계에 내재해 있는 창작 사유의 원천을 내적 심리의 측면, 원형적 측면, 전일적인 측면으로 해석하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 조각보에 투사된 창작의 심성은 유교적 규범을 지향하는 페르소나(Persona)와 비판적인 현실에 근거한 아니마(Anima)의 이중 자아를 조율하는 대극합일에서 비롯된 것으로, 이는 아우름과 전일성(全一性)에서 연유되었음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 조각보의 원형상으로 혼묘일환(混妙一環)에서 비롯된 ‘삼태극’을 지목하고 이러한 원형상이 변형 생성되어 조각보의 그리드체계를 재발현한 것으로, 여기서도 원형상의 견인자인 전일성이 작동하고 있음을 보였다. 셋째, O형의 프랙탈 구조로 구조화되어 있는 조선 여성들의 공간적 사유는 한국미술과 연관 지어 조각보의 상생조화에 기반한 자연주의 성격으로 전일주의에서 비롯되었음을 확인하였다. 총괄적인 결론은 조각보에 있어서 조선여성들의 창작의 심성의 근저에는 한국의 원형의식에서 작동하는 전일율이 작용하였다는 것이다.

A previous study by the researcher mathematically examined the grid system of Jogakbo, the Korean patchwork cloth, in the structural dimension, and found that it was characterized as O-type based on the Geumgang ratio (√2:1). This paper is a subsequent paper and its purpose is to examine what internal discourse of cultural types is hidden in the psychoanalytic and socio-cultural backgrounds of women in Joseon period, the subjects of creation. To this end, this study made interpretations based on three different dimensions: the internal psychology of women in the Joseon period, the archetype of the collective unconsciousness, and the law of every-onement in relation to naturalist traits. According to the results, The research revealed the aspect of duplicated ego in Joseon women, a conflict between persona that pursues Confucian conformity and anima that adopts more critical view of the reality. All these are contained in tolerance and pursuit of every-onement in Korean people. Second, the three-part yin-yang pattern (Samtaegeuk) originated from the Korean idea of Honmyoilhwan (‟Mixing and peculiarity are on the same circle”), and it was brought to a deep layer of the grid system in Jogakbo. Again, the law of every-onement worked as an attractor to bring out the archetype. Third, the spatial thinking of women in the Joseon period contributed to the creation of the fractal O-type structure that originated from every-onement as a natural characteristic based on mutual living and the harmony of Jogakbo in relation to Korean arts. The overall conclusion is that in Jogakbo, the law of every-onement operating in Korea′s archetypal consciousness underlies creative mentality of women in Joseon period.
