포은 설화의 전승 현황과 그 유형

A Study on the Status and Classification of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju Tales

본고에서는 기존의 연구성과와 한계를 토대로 하여 포은 설화의 전반적인 전승 양상을 확인하고 그 내용에 따른 유형 분류를 목적으로 하였다. 본고에서 필자가 정리한 포은 설화는 문헌전승 자료 32편, 구비전승 자료 28편 등 총 60편이었다. 현재 파악된 60편을 기초로 할 때, 포은 설화의 유형은 그 내용에 따라 ① 포은의 誕生 및 改名, ② 포은의 殉節과 善竹橋, ③ 포은의 묘 자리와 墓碑, ④ 포은의 祠堂과 神主, 祭文, ⑤ 포은의 豫知力, ⑥ 포은의 忠節과 오목대, ⑦ 기타로 분류할 수 있다. 이 가운데 포은의 순절과 선죽교 설화가 가장 많이 전승되고 있으며, 그 다음으로는 포은의 탄생과 개명, 그리고 포은의 묘 자리와 묘비 설화가 널리 전승되고 있다. 설화 속에 각인된 포은은 그 어떤 것보다도 충절의 표상이라는 이미지가 두드러지며, 포은의 숭배와 관련하여 포은을 신비화하거나 신격화하는 양상도 확인할 수 있었다. 필자의 능력 부족으로 누락된 자료나 연구 성과가 있을 줄 안다. 추후 보완할 수 있는 기회가 있기를 바란다.

I researched the status of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju tales and classified those tales according to the content of stories in this paper. I collected 60 pieces of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju's tales, composed of 32 pieces of literary traditions and 28 pieces of oral traditions. Poeun tales were classified into 7 types as following ; ① the Birth and Naming of Poeun, ② the Death of Poeun and Seon-juk bridge, ③ the Grave of Poeun and his Gravestone, ④ Shrine of Poeun, ⑤ the Foresight Power of Poeun, ⑥ Omokdae(梧木臺) and Poeun's Loyalty, ⑦ Unclassified. Tales of the death of Poeun and Seon-juk bridge were told widely and extensively, and tales of his birth and naming and tales of his grave were told also extensively. The image of Poeun imprinted in tales was his loyalty for Korea Dynasty. According to this image, Poeun had been told as a symbol of loyalty, sometimes his activities in tales were not correspond with historical facts.
