다문화가족 구성원들의 심리적 경험에 관한 사례 연구

A Case Study of Multicultural Family Members' Psychological Experiences: Marital Conflicts and Adaptation of the Korean-Chinese International Family in Korea

국내 체류 외국인 100만 명 시대를 맞이한 지금 다문화사회로의 성공적인 진입을 위한 논의가 시작되고 있다. 그 가운데 농촌지역을 중심으로 한 국제결혼이 꾸준히 증가하고 자녀들의 수도 크게 늘어나면서 여성결혼이민자들과 이들 가정에 대한 사회적인 관심 또한 증가하기 시작했다. 이제 시작단계에 있는 지원과 다문화주의를 확산시키기 위한 시도가 실효성올 거두기 위해서는 여성결혼이민자들과 가족들의 심리적인 경험을 보다 근본적이고 실증적으로 이해하려는 노력이 우선되어야 한다. 본 연구는 국제결혼 배우자 가운데 가장 큰 비율을 차지하는 중국 조선족 여성결혼이민자 1가정의 사례를 통해 이들의 갈등과 적응을 이해하고자 하였다. 아내와 남편, 시어머니, 친정어머니 총 4명의 연구 참여자와의 심층면접을 분석한 결과, 만남과 결혼은 기대와 염려가 공존하는 가운데 현실적인 타협과 정으로, 삶의 만족도에 가장 크게 영향을 미치는 핵심적인 주제는 고부간의 갈등으로 나타났다. 사례에서 확인된 8가지 주요 갈등 영역에서 고부간의 인식 차이와 이에 따른 심리적 경험을 묘사하였고, 이를 바탕으로 갈등에 대한 대처방식과 대처방식의 변화를 분석 결과로 제시하였다. 갈등에 대한 대처방식은 바로잡기, 요구하기, 상호작용의 최소화, 심리적인 거리두기로 변화되었고, 서운함에서 비롯된 적대감은 잠재적인 갈등의 요인으로 남겨졌다. 연구결과를 근거로 다문화가정을 위한 예방적 발달적 교육적 지원의 내용과 형식을 마련하는데 고려되어야 할 다양한 요인들을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this case study is to probe multicultural family members' psychological experiences. The number of international marriage have been rapidly increased in rural area Increases in number of foreign wives and their children stimulated public and academic interest. Previous researches focus on the causes of marital conflicts only, but this study emphasis the psychological experiences as well as processes of conflicts. The participants were 1 Chinese woman, her Korean spouse, her mother-in-law and mother, who had experienced family discord in the course of adaptation. The main themes associated with the satisfaction of the family members' quality of life were identified. They didn't share their own needs none the less because there were various different of expectations and concerns about their new life. Due to lack of information and empathic understanding about each other, family discord have been continued. The conflicts between Chinese daughter-in-law and Korean mother-in-law was the most negative influence on the satisfaction of the foreign wife's quality of life. The analysis of this study illustrates different coping style and the process of daughter-in-law and mother-in-law.
