A Study on the Korean coastal Port Network of Passenger Ship Service by Social Network Analysis

The purpose of this study is to find port network of coastal passenger service. Social Network Analysis (SNA), Ucinet 6 is utilized to meet the conditions for this aim. Using Pajek utility tool, this paper will carry out visualization to show the graphical representation of port network of coastal passenger services. This paper discusses the relationship of 131 coastal ports by applying network analyses such as degree centrality measures, closeness centrality and freeman betweeness centrality. The results of this paper showed Jeju Port has the highest closeness centrality and Freeman betweenness centrality as well as Mokpo Port indicates the highest degree centrality. These results are interesting because what we have regarded Hub of Container Liner Service as Busan port, but Hub of Passenger Services Port is port of Jeju and Mokpo because they show a high degree, closeness, and freeman centrality betweenness.
