A Study on Bonded Area of China Converts to Free Trade Zone -Focusing on Shanghai Free Trade Zone-

The history of free trade zone has been developing for countries. As practice has proven hereinafter, in an attempt to expand international trade, attract foreign capital, solve financial problems in certain regions, and promote the development, free trade zone has either been generally adapted, or an important trend in world economic development. Nevertheless, free trade zone in accordance with International Customs and Practice cannot be found in mainland China, but interim bonded zone. As the world economic integration and the deepening of China's opening to the outside, especially after China's accession to the WTO, the original advantages of the bonded zone are gradually weakened, with problems being growing. China must take on the transformation from bonded zone to free trade zone, in order to break through these constraint problems. It seems for now that comprehensive bonded zone in shanghai is eligible to transform for the largest and strongest surveillance region. Shanghai comprehensive bonded zone which is connected by sea land and air gets three original bonded zones including Waigaoqiao Port, Yangshan Port and Pudong international airport. The linkage of the three port areas manages to help shanghai comprehensive bonded zone transform to be free trade zone. The dissertation based on Shanghai comprehensive bonded zone conducts a study, in order to attract foreign capital, expand international trade, develop economy, and revise dilapidated system, by comparisons via SWOT to research, and makes personal proposals for transformation.
