함석헌의 씨알 배움론

Ham Seok-heon's Kernal-Erudition theory: Gu-Je-Sin-Ae(救濟信愛)

함석헌은 교육이 무엇을 말하는지부터 제대로 파악해야 한다고 주장한다. 교육의 본질이 무엇인지에 대한 논의와 그에 터한 이념 규명도 제대로 되어있지 않은 상태에서 학교교육을 마치 삶을 대변하는 활동처럼 말하는 것은 교육의 본질을 호도하기 알맞다고 강조한다. 그 무엇이던 본질파악에 철저하지 못한 이념은 죽은 관념에 지나지 않기 때문에, 교육이 무엇인지를 알기 위해서는 교육의 본질이 무엇인지에 대한 규명부터 철저히 해야 한다고 말한다. 그는 교육의 핵심, 교육의 이념은 학교학자들이 되뇌는 '교육이나 학습'에 있는 것이 아니라, '구제신애'에 있다고 말한다. 함석헌은 구제신애가 협소한 학교교육의 한계를 넘어설 수 있게 만드는 씨알교육의 핵심으로 보았으며 또한 배움에 있다고 보았다. 씨알은 배우는 존재이기에 배움에 충실해야 하는 것이 씨알의 운명이라는 것이다. 그의 교육론은 한마디로 구제신애의 배움론이다. 그가 지칭하는 배움은 바로 삶과 생명을 위한 '맞춤의 배움, 대듦의 배움, 그리고 창조의 배움을 말한다. 함석헌은 삶의 핵심이 약동(躍動)이라고 강조하는데 구제신애의 배움은 바로 삶의 태어남, 삶의 피어남 삶의 이루어짐을 위한 인간의 본능일 뿐이다.

Ham Seok-heon said that we must grasp what Education tells us. Without arguments about what are essentials of Erudition and identification of it, saying school education as activity which can starts for Life can blur the essence of Education. Any ideology that cannot identify the essentials of it, is just the idea that is already dead. So, he said that we have to establish what is the essentiality of Education thoroughly. In his view, the central concern, the ideology of Education is in Gu-Je-Sin-Ae(救濟信愛), not in Education or Learning. He saw it as a core of Kernal-Education in Erudition which can proceed beyond the limited school education. Kernal is something to learn, so being faithful to Erudition is the destiny of it. His thinking about Education, in a word, is the Erudition theory of Gu-Je-Sin-Ae(救濟信愛). He asserts the Erudition of Gu-Je-Sin-Ae(救濟信愛) that Ham Seok-heon think the heart of life the stir is the instinct of human for being born of life, blooming of life, realization of Erudition.
