Erudition Theory: Ssial Thought & Gu-Je-Sin-Ae

함석헌의 씨알교육사상은 단순한 지적 즐거움의 대상을 넘어서 인간 존재가 당면한 문제를 확인하고 해결할 수 있는 동기를 제시한다. 생각과 실천이 서로 각각 유리된 것이 아니라 인간 스스로가 생각하고 동시에 실천함으로써 삶의 깨달음을 경험할 것을 지향하는 것이다. 이는 인간의 앎과 행함이 곧 삶임을 직시하고 있는 것이다. 함석헌의 씨알교육사상은 지금껏 강조되어 왔던 학교 중심의 교ㆍ육ㆍ학ㆍ습(敎ㆍ育ㆍ學ㆍ習)을 넘어선 구ㆍ제ㆍ신ㆍ애(救ㆍ濟ㆍ信ㆍ愛)의 배움을 강조한다. 함석헌이 주창하는 배움은 생(生)과 명(命)을 위한 '맞춤의 배움, 대듦의 배움, 그리고 창조의 배움'을 말하며, 구제신애의 배움은 바로 '삶의 태어남, 삶의 피어남, 삶의 이루어짐'을 위한 인간의 본능인 것이다. 정보 중심의 학교 교육을 넘어선 사람 중심의 평생 배움이 중요함을 강조하는 구제신애의 배움은 묻기의 배움, 더불어 배움, 각자의 배움, 화이부동의 배움을 통해서 실천될 수 있다.

Nowadays we are living in the regime of School-Fascism. It is real that schooling is positioned at the center of something on educations. That is to say, we are all polluted by the power of schooling. Students follow the numbers of testing scores, parents stress the ranking of universities, and teachers lost their own way of education. This is the age of educational chaos. At this juncture, it is meaningful to recognize the Ssial thought proposed by Ham Seok-heon. His thought stirs on the human being itself. In his viewpoint, the core concern of the erudition is in the Gu-Je-Sin-Ae(救ㆍ濟ㆍ信ㆍ愛), not in Kyo-Yuk-Hak-Sup(敎ㆍ育ㆍ學ㆍ習). And he suggests that it is the center of Ssial thought and can proceed beyond the limitation of school education. Finally, it can be practiced by the asking, the living together, the eachness-eruditing, and the harmonizing of erudition.
