正祖 연간 『孟子』 註解 검토와 『日知錄』의 활용 사례에 대하여

이 논문은 正祖 연간 『孟子』 주해를 검토하고 그것과 관련하여 『日知錄』이 활용된 사례를 검토함으로써 顧炎武 학문이 조선후기 경학에 미친 영향관계를 점검하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 사실 顧炎武와 그의 저서는 조선 학계에 깊은 영향력을 행사했다. 예컨대 『古文尙書』 「大禹謨」는 心傳의 진위여부 및 이념체계의 존속과 관련하여 경학사에 큰 영향력을 미쳤으며 그 과정에서 顧炎武의 견해 역시 적지 않게 기여했다. 이에 四書와 관련하여 『孟子』에 대한 顧炎武의 견해가 조선후기 『孟子』 주해 검토에 어떤 영향력을 행사했는지 살펴보고자 한다. 조선 『孟子』 주해에는 적지 않은 문제점이 있었다. 왜냐하면 四書 이해의 가장 기본이 되는 텍스트가 校正廳本 『四書諺解』이고 교정청본의 저본이 胡廣의 『四書大全』이기 때문이다. 『四書大全』에는 적지 않은 오류가 있는데, 이는 顧炎武가 『日知錄』 권18 「四書五經大全」에서 지적한 바이다. 비록 이전에 교정청본 『孟子』 주해에 대한 문제점을 일부 지적했지만 그다지 활발하게 이루어지지 못했다. 그런데 正祖 연간에 들어서서 淸으로부터 『日知錄』이 유입되고 해당 조목을 접하면서 그 문제점을 구체적으로 파악한 것이다. 이를 계기로 正祖와 관련 학자들은 『日知錄』의 『孟子』 관련 조목에 의거해서 기존 주해의 문제점을 면밀히 검토하고 『孟子』 연구에 참고한다. 기존 주해의 문제점을 인지하고 이를 검토한 하나의 계기가 바로 顧炎武의 『日知錄』이었던 것이다. 기존 학문상의 문제점 보완을 위한 하나의 수단으로써 顧炎武의 연구성과를 활용한 사례를 살핀 데 의의가 있다.

This paper aims to research Ri zhi Lu's influence with its focus on an academic tendency of reexamination of mengzi commentary in the period of king Jung-jo. In late Chosun Dynasty, a trade between Chosun and Qing Dynasty became active and an enormous amount of academic books such as Ri zhi Lu flew into Chosun. Following this trend, Korean neo-confucianists took much interest in Gu Yan-wu's academic achievements. On the other hand, There was nothing controversial about the Four Chinese Classics. Because Korean neo-confucianists took interest in the authenticity of Guwenshangshu concern with continued existence of neo-confucianism. Nevertheless, there was a problem with mengzi commentary. because the original script of Gyojeongcheong's Gyeongseo-Eonhae is Sishu-daquan. Gu Yan-wu said It has numerous interpretative errors. Although several neo-confucianists pointed out mistakes in a translation of Gyojeongcheong's Gyeongseo-Eonhae, had not a lively discussion about it. In the period of King Jung-jo, neo-confucianists could see the real state of this problem by Ri zhi Lu. Upon this opportunity, King Jung-jo and neo-confucianists accepted Gu Yan-wu's opinions in order to reexamine and supplement of mistakes in a translation of mengzi commentary. This core was a praxis of Ri zhi Lu by Gu Yan-wu. This is meaningful that neo-confucianists had receptive to Gu Yan-wu's academic achievements in order to compensate this academic problem.
