영국박물관들의 교육프로그램 현황 연구

A Study of the Present State of Educational Programs in the Museums of England

이 연구의 목적은 영국박물관 교육의 현황을 조사하기 위함에 있다. 빅토리아ㆍ알버트 어린이박물관, 영국박물관, 자연사박물관을 그 대상으로 하였고, 조사결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째로, 영국의 박물관들은 학교교유과 철저한 연계를 이루고 있다. 박물관교육의 학교교육의 대안적인 것이 아니라 학교교육을 보완하고 그 교육효과를 상승시키는 역할을 하고 있다. 이를 위해서 학교교육과정과 박물관의 전시내용의 철저한 분석이 이루어졌다. 교과성취목표와 전시가 어떻게 연결되는지, 교육활동이 교과목과 어떻게 연결되는지에 대한 기초적인 파악과 더불어 각 교육프로그램이 어떻게 학교교육과정에 도움이 되는지 명확하게 제시하기도 하고, 교사들을 위해 특별교육 프로그램을 마련하기도 하였다. 둘째로, 영국의 박물관들은 집중하는 교육 프로그램 또는 대상이 있었다. 관람자 전체를 대상으로 하는 일반적 교육을 일정수준 이상 유지하였지만, 특정 교육 프로그램은 풍부하게 개설하는 것을 볼 수 있다. V&A 어린이박물관이 어린이 교육에 집중하는 것, 영국박물관이 다문화관련 교육에 집중하는 것, 자연사박물관이 환경관련 교육에 집중하는 것이 이에 해당한다. 셋째로, 모든 교육프로그램들의 운영시간이 짧고, 만들기 등의 시간 배분을 최소화하였다. 대부분의 교육시간이 학교교유과 연계되어 있는 관계로 한 시간 내외에서 이루어지며, 박물관 전시자료 전체를 대상으로 교육하는 것이 아니라, 특정한 전시공간에서 이루어졌다. 박물관을 학교처럼 계속해서 오는 곳으로 교사와 학생들이 인식하게 하고 있다.

The objects of this study is looking over the present state of educational programs in the museums of England. The subjects of this study were V&A Museum of Childhood, the British Museum and the Museum of Natural History, and got conclusions as lists below after the investigations. First, the museums of England had a strong liaison with schools. The role museum education is not an alternative of schools but an supplement and ascending the educational effect of schools. To do this they analyzed school curriculums and the exhibitions of museums. With the fundamental understanding such as the relationship of the achievement object of curriculums with exhibition, the educational activities of museum with school subjects, they presented how museum educational program helps school curriculums, and they also made special programs for school teachers. Second, the museum of England had programs and target audiences that they paid special concentration. Even if they maintained an educational programs for ordinary visitors, and they also made more educational programs for specific visitors and matters. These are the concentration of children's. program in V&A Museum of Childhood, multicultural educational programs in the British Museum and environmental educational programs in the Natural History Museum. Third, the time required for the educational program is very short and the allotment of making something during that program is very low. Because almost of all of the educational programs are related the school educations, the consuming of the time is about 1 hour. And they didn't teach all the museum exhibitions and the teaching occurred in specific exhibitional areas. Museums were regarded as a place of frequent visiting for the students and school teachers.
