마을공동체 활동구성원의 사회적 네트워크 특성과 무형식학습 행동의 관계

The Relations between the Characteristics of Social Networks and the Behavior of Informal Learning in a Village Community

최근까지 성인학습과 HRD 분야에서 무형식학습은 중요 연구 주제였다. 그러나 성인학습과 HRD분야에서 무형식학습과 사회적 네트워크의 관계에 대한 연구는 많지 않았다. 이에 본 연구에서는 한마을공동체를 선택하여 무형식학습과 사회적 네트워크 특성의 관계를 탐색하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 서울 소재 A마을공동체의 7개 단체, 57명의 활동구성원을 대상으로 양적 자료를 수집하였다. 그리고 무형식학습 행동 수준이 높은 4명의 활동구성원을 대상으로 질적 자료를 수집하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과, 다음의 사항들을 발견할 수 있었다. 첫째, 중심성은 무형식학습에 부적영향을 주었으나 구조적 공백은 정적 영향을 주었다. 둘째, 높은 중심성을 가진 구성원은 타인 지원 역할을 수행하지만, 자신을 위한 무형식학습 활동 기회는 많이 갖지 못하였다. 반면에 높은 수준의 구조적 공백을 보이는 활동구성원은 타인과의 상호작용 등을 통한 무형식학습 기회를 갖게 되었다. 셋째, 높은 수준의 구조적 공백을 보이는 활동구성원은 유사한 수준의 구조적 공백을 보이는 동료와 상호작용을 통하여 무형식학습 활동을 실행하였다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 제언과 한계점을 논의하였다.

Recently, informal learning has been a hot issue in the area of adult learning and HRD. But only a few studies about the relation between informal learning and social networks were reported. So, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the behavior of informal learning and the characteristics of social networks in a village community. To this end, quantitative data were collected from 57 members of A village community in Seoul, Korea. And qualitative data also collected from 4 members who showed high level of informal learning behaviors. According to the study, several points had been discovered. Firstly, centrality had negative effects on the behavior of informal learning, but structural hole positive on it. Secondly, members who showed high level of centrality performed the roles to support others` learning but didn`t have many opportunities for learning for themselves. On the other hand, members who showed high level of structural hole had some opportunities for informal learning through interaction with others. Thirdly, members who showed high level of structural hole performed the behavior of informal learning through interaction with peers who showed similar level of structural hole. Based on these results, suggestions and limitations of this study were discussed.
