Thematic Review of Logistics Research in Primary Journals through 2008 to 2012

With the innovative growth of the logistics industry, its corresponding academic area also has largely improved. However, in-depth researches on diverse topics with more specific analysis are less than sufficient. In this recognition, this research, based on preceding foreign and domestic logistical studies, looked at diversity centering on the research topics including'logistics introduction', 'logistics management', 'logistics information', 'transportation system', 'SCM & new topics' in order to explore future logistical researches for South Korea. To this end, the author analyzed 530 pieces of articles published in 「The Journal of Korea Logistics Society」, 「Journal of The Korean Association of Shipping and Logistics」 and 「Korea Logistics review」 for differences and characteristics and presented future development way for the logistics. As a result, this research has found that logistics studies had expanded in their quantity and coverage into new topics but dealt with only few topics of transportation and infrastructure. For a more balanced development of logistics studies, academic areas need to be more clearly defined and more cross-disciplinary studies as well as those focusing on new logistics changes will be required.
