An empirical test of the relationship between relational dimensions of Korean Leadership Style and team effectiveness: Testing the mediating role of POS

The present study purports to empirically test the relationship between relational dimensions of Korean Leadership Style and team effectiveness. Out of 8 dimensions of Korean Leadership Style, we took 3 relational dimensions such as Upward Adaptation, Horizontal Harmony, Downward Benevolence, and established a variable named KLS-Relational after aggregating them on a team level based on the data from a multi-source(i.e., 125 team leaders, 465 team members A, and 334 team members B) survey. We then tested the impact of KLS-Relational on team effectiveness along with the mediating role of POS(Perceived Organizational Support) in the KLS-Relational-team effectiveness process. The survey was conducted with 125 teams from 47 Korean companies. The results of the survey show that KLS-Relational had significant, direct effects on team effectiveness measured with team innovativeness, team performance, and team satisfaction. In addition, it was found that POS wholly mediates the relationship between KLS-Relational and various team effectiveness variables. Implications of the study results have been discussed along with study limitations. The future directions of the study were also discussed.
