영어교육 분야에서 수행된 인지적ㆍ정의적 학습자 변인에 대한 연구

This study reviewed the research studies on cognitive and affective factors in EFL education in an attempt to provide future directions in this research field. For the study, a total of 61 research papers published in English Language & Literature Teaching from 1995 to 2013, were reviewed and analyzed in terms of research subjects, topics, and methodology employed in the studies. Each of these classification criteria had their own subcategories describing each research study. The findings were as follows: 1) 35(57%) research studies involved college level students as study participants, while only 5(8%) studies examined the cognitive and affective factors with elementary school students; 2) 45(74%) studies focused on the examination of L2 learning strategies and motivation in relation to other variables; and 3) 58(95%) studies were identified as empirical research, while 40(66%) of them mainly utilized the quantitative research method, with much fewer qualitative and mixed methods. On the basis of the findings, suggestions and directions for future research on the cognitive and affective factors in L2 learning and teaching were provided, in company with the limitation of the present study.
