This study examines students' satisfaction with and perceptions of the General English Program(GEP) at a university in a provincial area. Specifically, this study compares two types of the GEP courses; English II, a general English course and English III, a practical English course. A total of 411 students participated in the survey and interviews were conducted with 20 of them. Quantitative and qualitative data collection methods were employed to offer a better understanding than either one alone could provide. The results showed that there were similar patterns regarding students' perceptions of English II and English III. Students in both courses responded that they wanted to develop their speaking skills. Although survey results showed similar satisfaction with both the courses, interview results demonstrated a higher level of satisfaction with English III due to its practical aspects. Students also commented on the necessity of level-differentiated GEP courses. The findings provide practical implications of this GEP curriculum, which could also serve as a valuable reference for course planners in other universities.
