This article is to examine the ritual music performed at Jongmyo (the Royal Ancestral Shrine) in Korea. Jongmyojerye (종묘제례 宗廟祭禮) is the ancestral memorial rite for the repose of the spirits of the kings and queens of the Joseon dynasty at Jongmyo where their spirit tablets are enshrined, and Jongmyo Jeryeak (종묘제례악 宗廟祭禮樂) is a music that is played during the rites. It deals with four parts: (i) its background; (ii) Akjang (樂章); (iii) Akhyeon (樂懸); and (iv) conclusions. This article is based on the revise of my PhD thesis entitled as A Study of the Institutional and Ideological Foundation of Jongmyo Jeryeak and its Historical Development that was submitted to Sunggyungwan University in February 2012. It is the second part of the whole article.
