한국 고령자의 사회 불평등 인식 분석

A Comparative Analysis of Seniors' Awareness of Social Inequality in Korea, U.S. and Japan

본 논문에서 우리 근대사의 주역이었던 60세 이상 고령자들이 사회의 공정성과 사회 불평등에 대해 어떻게 생각하고 있는지를 고찰하기 위해, 2009년 ISSP자료를 이용하여 미국과 일본의 고령자와 비교분석하였다. 구체적으로 기회의 공정성에 대한 동의여부, 분배공정성에 관한 인식, 사회집단 간 갈등에 관한 인식, 사회적 지위에 관한 인식과 사회유형에 관한 인식 등 5가지 범주를 살펴보았다. 평균값, 분산분석과 사후검정 결과 한국, 미국과 일본 고령자들은 사회의 공정성과 사회 불평등 인식의 5개 범주에서 유의한 차이를 보인다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 한국은 3개국 중 가장 압축적인 경제성장을 해 온 국가임을 감안할 때, 사회의 공정성과 사회불평등 인식이 상대적으로 강하고, 특히 분배공정성에 대해 큰 불만을 가진 것으로 분석되었다. 이상적인 사회유형에 있어서도 한국이 중간층이 가장 많은 사회를 원하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

This paper examines how the Korean seniors over 60 perceive social justice and inequality by comparing theirs with the cases of American and Japanese seniors based on the 2009 ISSP survey on social inequality. For the comparative study, this paper adopts mean value, one-way analysis of variance and post-hoc comparison and examines the different perceptions of each group about social inequality in the five categories: the agreement with equality of opportunity, distributive justice, social conflict, social position and types of society. In conclusion, the research reveals that the Korean seniors show relatively strong awareness of social justice and inequality and in particular, they present great discontent with distributive justice. In terms of the ideal type of society, the Koreans seniors have a preference for the middle class society.
