抱朴子 葛洪의 양생술 연구

A Study into Ge Hong(葛洪)'s Nurturing Life - On the Lineage, Theoretical Foundation and Practice and Meaning of the Main Nurturing Life Techniques -

양생사의 측면에서 보자면 갈홍 양생술은 혜강에게서 보이는 양신과 양형의 결합이라는 경향을 계승하고 있다. 그리고 사상사적 측면에서는 후한 대와 위진 대의 이념에 토대하고 있다. 갈홍은 이런 전통위에서 양생론을 체계적으로 종합해냈다. 그는 도가의 본체론을 계승했지만 그것을 구체적 양생술로 발전시켰다. 도가 인격신화된 ‘一’의 존상은 전통도가의 체도를 술의 측면에서 정립한 명상법이다. 도인은 영위기의 순행을 통해 질병을 막는 양생술이다. 도인의 기능은 얼마간 행기의 기능과 겹친다. 행기는 태식법을 주로 하는 일종의 호흡법으로 기의 흡입과 순환이라는 두 측면으로 구성되어 있다. 갈홍은 기의 순환에 관해서는 구체적 설명을 남기지 않았다. 다만 방중에 문제가 있으면 행기가 힘을 받지 못한다고 하고, 방중은 환정보뇌라고 함으로써 척수를 따라 뇌로 이어지는 구조가 기의 순환에 포함되어 있음을 알 수 있을 뿐이다. 다른 양생술이 생명을 기르는 것이라면, 방중은 생명의 보존을 목적으로 한다. 방중술에는 오장의 정이 신으로 귀일되는 동양의 신체관이 전제되어 있다. 갈홍의 양생윤리는 『태평경』에 보이는 承負론과 『상이주』의 양생윤리를 계승 발전시킨 것이다. 양생윤리는 개인적 차원에 머물던 양생이 시대적 이념으로 확장된 증거이자, 양생이 특정시기의 시대정신으로 자리잡을 수 있는 가능성을 보여주는 것이기도 하다.

In the perspective of nurturing life history, Ge Hong(葛洪)‘s nurturing life is the descendant of nurturing spirit and nurturing body's union. As to thought history, it is based on the philosophy of post-han(後漢) and weijin(魏晉) period. Ge Hong systematically synthesized nurturing life theory on the basis of this tradition. He succeeded the ontology of traditional taoism and developed it into concrete nurturing life technique. Yi(一), made into deity from Dao(道), is the object to be meditated in taoism meditation technique which is called Shou Yi(守一). This technique of mind coincide with this schema of Shu(術) of religious taoism against Dao of philosophical taoism. Gymnastics(導引) is a nurturing life technique that protect body against mal-effect(邪氣)’s invasion from outside. The technique of controlling vital vapor(行氣) is a breath skill which consists of intake of breath and circulation of vital vapor. Ge Hong did not concretely explain the circulation of qi. But we can infer that vital vapor taken from outside go through the spine during circulation from the definition of Sexual Art(房中術) that sends vitality into brain and supplement it(還精補腦). The object of Sexual Art is to keep life not lessening vital force(精氣). The nurturing life ethics is the descendent of Cheng Fu(承負) in TaiPingJing(太平經) and LaoZiXiangErZhu(老子想爾注)’s nurturing life ethics. Nurturing life ethics is the proof that nurturing life has widened to the main philosophy and shows the possibility that it takes the position of episteme.
