The Attitudes toward Supporting Old Parents and Inheritance among University Students

The purpose of this study is find the attitudes toward supporting old parents and inheritance among university students. Questionnaire survey was conducted during 1 to 30 August, 2012, and 300 Chungbuk National University students were selected. Major findings were as follows. First, university students' attitudes toward economic supporting of their old parents were found 2.54(out of 4 Likert scale) when they became old parents, and 2.99 when their parent become old. And they had more positive attitudes toward economic support for necessaries than non-necessaries. Second, 71.3% of respondents answered that they wanted to live by their children for taking children's support in daily living when they became old. Whereas, 46.2% of respondents answered that they wanted to live with their old parents for taking care of daily living of their old parents. Third, 2/3 of respondents showed positive attitudes toward both they inherit their estate to their children and they inherit their parents' estate. And respondents's attitudes toward house reverse mortgage turned out to be very positive.
