Through my studies I got some results. Islam, in order to preserve and protect their societies sound, demanded a severe punishment to the illegal relations between the sexes. Therefore Islam took the story of Lot and his people of Koran as the basis for the warning and punishment of Allah about the homosexuality, and then used the expressions of the prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah as the ground for the serious crime which the homosexuality needed the severe punishment. After that, the four law schools and the modern Fatwa also interpreted the expressions of both Koran and Hadith as the basis for the warning and punishing the homosexuality. However, though the Islamic societies demanded the strong punishment like lashing, banishment, death penalty(stoning, firing, beheading, burying alive) to the homosexuals, the homosexuality extended to Khalifa, army, poet, sufi, religion teacher, royal dancer, massage boy, women in harem and also in general, elite women and the homosexuality between them was connived as the open secret. The reason and the cause of homosexuality were very diverse like the privileged sense, political end, love for God, price for teaching, freedom of the isolated or oppressed women, disobedience against the mail-dominated society. I think, the main reason why the homosexuality couldn’t be rooted out from the Islamic societies is because there was no single voice to the homosexuality by Koran, Hadith, the law schools and Fatwa.
