This paper studies the faith and works relationships between the Epistle of James and the writings of the Apostle Paul in his Epistle to the Galatians and Romans(Rom 3:28; Gal 2:16; cf. Jam 2:14, 17, 24). For the answers to these significant issues discussed in James, this paper will compare the special situation of the readers in the Epistle of James and the evangelical writings of the Apostle Paul. Additionally, this paper will research how James used the Story of Abraham in Genesis(15:6, 22:1-19) and Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew(5:1-7:29) to discuss solutions to the situations facing his audience. In the latter part of the paper, the author will analyze and discuss the meaning of James 1:19-27 and the meaning of the "law"(νόμος) in 1:19-27. The paper then makes an examination of the meaning of James 2:14-26 and the meaning of the "Works"(ἔργον), "Justify"(δικαιόω), and "Faith"(πίστις) in 2:24. As a natural consequence of these discussions, the paper will assist readers to understand the relation of the faith and works in James, and it will demonstrate that the answers that the two assertions of two Apostles are not in contradiction but are in harmony each other.
