『(四體圖像註解) 世昌千字文』 硏究

A Study on the Se-Chang Thousand Character Classic

이 논문은 漢字初學書를 목표로 하면서 부수적으로 圖像, 書體 그리고 註解가 첨가된 『(四體圖像註解) 世昌千字文』 대하여 논의한 것이다. 시대 상황을 고려한 『世千』의 편찬 배경과 이 책의 형식과 내용에 대하여 주로 논의하였다. 『千字文』 편찬 방식의 변화가 초래된 것은 개화기 이후 西歐 敎育制度의 도입과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 經學 中心의 敎育制度 아래에서는 어떤 방식으로 편찬된 『千字文』이든 학습자가 외면할 수 없었다. 그러나 知ㆍ德ㆍ體를 중시하는 近代的 敎育이 시행되면서 『千字文』이 정규 학교에서 기초교재로 채택되지 않자 그 位相이 크게 바뀌었다. 결국 『千字文』의 편찬 방향은 학습자의 구매 욕구를 자극하기 위하여 漢字初學書의 기본적인 틀을 유지하면서 多樣한 情報를 제공하는 방향으로 바뀌게 되었다. 『世千』에는 현대국어가 반영되어 각 한자에 훈이 부여되었는데 중세국어가 반영된 『石千』의 훈과 비교해 보면 1/4 정도가 다른 어휘로 교체되었다. 훈이 교체된 요인은 어휘의 소멸, 변천 등 言語內的인 것과 편찬자의 의도가 반영된 言語外的인 것이 있다. 각 句에는 우리말 通解를 달아 놓았는데 해당 구의 核心的인 內容을 바탕으로 하면서 副次的인 것은 壓縮하여 簡略하게 표현하였다.

This thesis studies the Chinese language primer Se-Chang Thousand Character Classic with its four types of calligraphy, iconography and annotation focusing on the historical background of its compilation and its format and contents. The change in the traditional method of compilation is closely related to the introduction of Western educational system after the Enlightenment period. There are no ways for the students to ignore Thousand Character Classic in Confucian-based education. However, with the beginning of the modern education which focuses on the knowledge, virtue, and physical strength, Thousand Character Classic is not selected as a textbook and its status is degraded. Thus, the new method of compilation is adopted to induce the students purchasing need and provide comprehensive information while maintaining the basic format of Chinese language primer. In terms of the Korean translation of Chinese character, almost a quarter of medieval words in Han Seok-Bong Thousand Character Classic is replaced to the new modern words in Se-Chang Thousand Character Classic. It is due to the linguistic factors such as the extinction and change of individual word and the non-linguistic factors such as the intervention of compilator. Each Chinese phrase is accompanied by concise annotation in Korean which explains the key contents and briefly mentions the other features.
