亨齋 李稷의 한시에 나타난 '물'에 관한 상상력

A Study on the Imagination of "Water" in the Chinese Poetry of Hyeongjae Lee Jik

본 논의는 형재 이직이 그의 한시를 통해 '물'을 어떤 방식으로 인식하고 있으며, 이를 통해 무엇을 말하려 하였던가 하는 문제를 집중적으로 다룬 것이다. 방법론적 측면에서 '자아-사물-개념' 사이에서 발생하는 사물인식의 삼각구도를 적용시켰다. 그 결과 형재시에는 즉물적 인식, 이념적 인식, 역사적 인식이 두루 나타나지만, 이 가운데서도 물과 관련해 볼 때 이념적 인식이 가장 뚜렷하였다. 형재의 물에 대한 이념적 인식은 사상적 문맥 속에서 유불 회통의 논리와 함께 성리학적 수양론을 효과적으로 나타내는데 매우 중요한 역할을 했다. 이것은 물에 세척적 기능이 있기 때문인데, 인욕을 막고 천리를 보존하자는 것으로 구체화되었다. 특히 형재시는 물인식의 상관성을 고려할 때, 그의 시에 나타나는 물의 상상력, 그 궁극에는 '인간의 본성'이 있었다. 이 본성이 유불의 회통논리에 따라 그의 작품에 다양하게 나타나고 있었던 것이다.

This paper presents an intensive investigation to how Hyeongjae Lee Jik perceived "water" in his Chinese poems and what he tried to say through it. As for methodology, the study applied the triangular structure to perceive objects among "ego," "objects" and "concepts." As a result, his poetry was characterized by the even appearance of realistic, ideological, and historical perceptions, of which the ideological ones were the most apparent in relation to water. His ideological perceptions of water played very important roles in presenting the Neo-Confucian cultivation theory effectively along with the logic of Confucianism and Buddhism′s fusion in an ideological context. It was because water had cleansing functions, which were embodied as efforts to prevent human greed and preserve natural law. Considering the correlativity of his perceptions of water, there is "human nature" in the extremity of his imagination of water in his poems. The human nature made various appearances in his works according to the logic of Confucianism and Buddhism′s fusion.
