This study attempted to determine correlations among appearance beauty factors, socio-psychological factors and educational needs relating to self-beauty and their influences on high school girls. For this, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 332 high school girls in Seoul and Busan. The results revealed the following: First, the need for self-beauty education was relatively high with 3.74 out of 5 points. Second, close correlations were detected among appearance satisfaction, interest in beauty, beauty care attitude, stress and educational needs for self-beauty. Third, as appearance satisfaction improved, self-esteem increased with lower stress. Fourth, as appearance satisfaction was low, and interest in beauty and stress were high, educational needs became stronger. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and distribute a self-beauty educational program which reflects these high school girls' needs. It is expected that it will help them learn the right values and desirable beauty-care attitudes and bring a positive impact to their self-esteem and stress.
