This paper addresses the importance and effects of parent involvement in transition programs for individuals with disabilities in terms of the federal transition legislation, parent attitudes, and parent training and support services. Federal transition initiatives are described in order to provide an overview of the process by which parent involvement in transition process has been stimulated and expanded. Parents' changing attitudes toward transition programs for their child with disability are discussed by reviewing some comprehensive survey studies about parent expectations.
