The difference of children's constructive play quality on children's age

This study examines the effects of children's age on the quality of constructive play. The subjects of this study were 111 four- and five-year-old children. Using the naturalistic observation, children's constructive plays in constructive play area are video-taped and transcribed for 60minutes in ten consecutive days in each classroom. Children's constructive plays are analyzed by the levels of constructive play, the enrichment of play activity, and the coherence of play contents. The results of this study are as follows: Five-year-olds play more enrichment of play activity, and more coherent of play contents than four-year-olds do at the level of investigative of constructive play.
