Exploring identification standards of musically gifted young students

Identification standards of musically gifted students below thirteen years old is studied variously but over thirteen years old was not. So, in this study, we investigated foreign and domestic school for musically gifted students over thirteen years old. We investigated identification standards of musically gifted students of office of education of Nebraska state, selection procedure of pre-college of Julliard and pre-college of Curtis in USA. We investigated selection procedure of Stuttgart and Koeln in Deutschland. We examined Sunhwa arts middle and high school and The korean national university of arts. After this investigation, we find ability of performance in the stage, ability of expression and persevering effort as a common identification standards. As a difference, we find following two facts. Firstly, academic achievement and ability of practical training are both important in domestic. Secondly, there are no level difference between different ages in domestic. Therefore, we knew the following five items are important as a identification standards of musically gifted young students. The five test items are as following. First item is ability of continuing repeat exercise. Second item is expression ability in the stage. Third item is ability of music dictation. Fourth item is various trial to finding potential music ability. Final item is music aptitude and music interest. because, music interest is the most important item of identification of musically gifted students, we made and proposed a self-checking test for music interest based on the test for music interest of office of education of Nebraska state.
