In these days, film education is facing an environment where the concept and value of film is changing rapidly and where art is emerging to cultural industries. Thus, we are forced to respond this situation. Interdisciplinary education is considered as an alternative to existing education system. A goal of the interdisciplinary education is cultivating artists who can actively meet rapidly changing media condition and society. They should be possessed with well-rounded sensbility, flexibility, creativeness and eyes to read the trend of time in addition to specialized knowledge in their own field. Under the subdivided conventional model of university education students are asked to become a specialist in a specific area and accordingly university education is treated as a technical one. Film education in past was demanded to investment of technical accomplishment. The interdisciplinary education system that Chung-Ang University seem very interesting. The system of Chung-Ang University is new model in which the each discipline maintain their own specialties but, through collaboration and exchange across disciplines and media, raise future artist. This newly launched interdisciplinary education is in need of study and development in terms of philosophy and methodology. What is important is how to upgrade interdisciplinary education system, how to develop interdisciplinary curriculum, how to relate it to cultural indus try, how to come up with education that embraces all these and how to reflect these on classes. The success of interdisciplinary education depends on establishing clear principles, organizing systematic programs with a long-term perspective, constantly promoting an innovative educational system.
