후대 詩文에 투영된 退ㆍ栗 형상

Taegye & Yulgok's trace incorporated into future generations of the poetry

퇴계와 율곡은 달리 짝할 이를 찾을 수 없을 정도로 우리 지성사에 태두로 자리하며 심원한 영향을 끼친 인물들이다. 그러므로 이들에 대한 후대인들의 언급은 질과 양에 있어 심도 깊고 풍성하게 제출되어 있다. 퇴계와 율곡을 정점으로 하여 형성된 당색과 학파로 인하여 우리 지성사를 통해 가장 본격적이고 지속적이며 치열한 논전이 전개되기도 하였다. 본고에서는 특히 후대인들의 시문에 투영된 퇴계와 율곡의 모습을 몇 가지 항목으로 정리하여 살피면서 그 의미를 고구하려 하였다. 전에 살았던 공간을 읊으며 추념에 젖고 있는 작품군과 現夢을 통한 感發을 노래하는 작품군 마지막으로 진퇴를 사이한 번민이 투영된 작품군이 바로 그것이었다. 연구자의 시선에서 놓친 작품도 물론 많을 것인 바, 이에 대해서는 후고를 통해 보완할 예정이다. 종전까지는 퇴계와 율곡을 주로는 이학자로서 읽어왔으며 문인으로서의 면모에 대해서도 그 의미와 위상이 검토되어 왔다. 그러한 검토는 물론 퇴계와 율곡에 대한 이해에 커다란 진전을 가능케 한 것도 사실이다. 이러한 연구사의 축적은 그것대로 지속되면서, 본고에서 살핀 바와 같은 논의가 첨가된다면 퇴계와 율곡에 대한 이해에는 물론이거니와 우리 지성사에 대한 이해에도 기여할 수 있는 측면이 있을 것으로 판단된다.
