A Study on the Development of Teaching and Learning Materials for the Proper Word (Tobagimal)

The elementary school years is when people learn their mother tongue, which is why vocabulary education in elementary school is very important to a student’s Korean language skills after elementary school. In that sense, the development of teaching and learning materials geared towards the proper word(Tobagimal) for elementary school students is essential because it can greatly affect a student’s language skills. The purpose of this study is to develop various materials that can be directly used by teachers and students in the field to successfully meet the proper word (Tobagimal) standards for the Korean language curriculum following the curriculum revision in 2009. Based on the results of the application of these materials, this study will propose various teaching and learning materials that can then be generalized. In order to achieve the purpose of the 2009 Korean language curriculum revision, materials that can be applied by grade will be explored to discuss the development and results of the teaching materials in depth, making it easier to be applied in elementary schools. The educational materials applied included cognitive development materials for the proper word (Tobagimal) and suggested a teaching and learning method to encourage a positive attitude towards using the proper word (Tobagimal). This study shed new light on the importance of vocabulary education revolving around the proper word (Tobagimal) in the Korean language curriculum, and also confirmed the possibility of developing various teaching and learning materials to suit the rapidly changing circumstances of the Korean language.
