본 논문은 소설가 황정은의 작품들에 대한 연구이다. 고통을 함께 앓는 자들이 자신에게 부과된 한계를 뚫고 사회의 안락이라는 가상을 기각하는 힘을 지니게 되는 비등(飛騰)의 시간. 황정은은 그와 같은 ‘윤리적 비등점’에서, 고통 위에 설립된 폭력의 구조가 아래에서부터 붕괴하는 순간을 형상화했다. 본고는 편재하는 그 순간들을 ‘카타스트로프의 점들’이라고 지칭하고, 시스템의 연속적 작동을 중단시키는 불연속의 계기들이자 질적인 변이의 순간들로 규정했다. 황정은 소설의 파국적 상상력은 힘의 역전이 이뤄지는 지점들의 탐색이자 산포된 그 지점에서의 도약들이다. 그렇게 도약하고 있는 주체들이 바로 ‘파씨’라는 익명적 이름이다.
