본 논문은 기독교 교사의 매우 중요한 자질 중 하나인 학습자에 대한 긍휼 또는 감정이입에 대한 신학적 연구와 실증적 연구의 통합을 다루었다. 구약 성경에서 긍휼은 하나님께서 그의 백성들과 교제하고 의사소통 하는 매우 중요한 근본적 방법이었다. 신약 성경에서 예수님은 학습자들인 그의 백성들에게 긍휼의 마음을 매개로 접촉하셨다. 성경에서 긍휼은 하나님의 신적 특성 중 하나로 묘사하고 있다. 이러한 긍휼은 교육적 상황에서 학생에 대한 교사의 공감으로 나타난다. 교사의 공감은 교사와 학습자 사이의 긍정적 관계를 맺게 하는 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 이 공감은 학습자의 인지적, 감정적, 행동적 발달에 매우 긍정적인 결과를 초래한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 긍휼 혹은 공감에 대한 신학적, 실증적 분석의 통합에 근거하여 기독교 교육학적 제안을 하였다.
The purpose of this study is to integrate theological analysis and empirical findings on mercy as an important quality of Christian teachers. God’s mercy is a fundamental motivation to interact and communicate with his people in the Old Testament. Jesus, the master teacher, also connected with his people with merciful heart in the first century. The Bible clearly describes that mercy is one of the divine characteristic of God. Teacher’s empathy plays an important role in the positive relationships between teachers and students. It brings on positive outcomes for students’ cognitive, affective, and behavioral development. Based on the integration of both theological analysis and empirical findings, educational suggestions were suggested to the church education in this study.
