Capturing Opportunities in the Korea Medical Tourism Industry

This study is intended to create new jobs through the revitalization of the medical tourism industry. Asian countries including Korea are paying attention to medical tourism as a new value-added industry of the 21st century. Korea occupies a superior place in the medical sphere compared to other countries. Even though Korea provides a higher level of medical care among the OECD nations, Korea does not have that many foreign patients compared to other Asian countries. Korea’s medical tourism has been recently rated among the best in the world. Thus, the Korean government must pay more attention to medical tourism in order to create new jobs in the medical tourism service industry. America, Canada, India, Singapore, These country have created new jobs in the medical tourism service industry and Korea can do the same. However, Korea has to remove medical barriers. It is high time that Korea considers attracting investments in hospitals to take advantage of the opportunities in developing further the medical tourism industry.
