The literature reflects remarkably little on developing a framework for understanding global learning capability of MNC subsidiaries. This article develops a global learning capability model that embraces global orientation, local orientation, and absorptive capacity that needs to be effectively nurtured and managed in subsidiaries. By using a sample of 61 Korean foreign subsidiaries, this study empirically examines the determinants of a subsidiary s global learning performance through regression analyses. The results show that local orientation and the existence of a manufacturing site have a positive effect on a subsidiary s global learning performance. Combining the global mindset and entrepreneurship orientation results in global orientation and local orientation features the concept of market orientation and localization. Absorptive capacity plays a critical role in linking global orientation with local orientation. In addition, the existence of manufacturing activities in local country promotes the learning performance of subsidiaries. We propose global orientation, local orientation. and absorptive capability to enhance the global learning capability of subsidiary.
