A Study on the Regional Economic Contributions Recognition to YeosuGwangyang Port

The operation of a port generates employment and income for the local community, as well as flow-on effects to other local industries. In addition, all levels of government and local community receive directㆍindirectly revenue from taxes and other charges on these activities. In recent, the emergence of Port Authority needs the cooperation between port industry related organization and local citizen in port development and operation. Therefore, this paper analyses the regional economic contributions recognition to YeosuGwangyang port to suggest the alternatives for the improvement of port contributions recognition. According to the result of survey, the level of port contributions recognition following port industry related organization on the list was shipper, citizen. Most of port industry related organization, shipper, citizen do not recognize as being as positive as it should be. Thus, the Port Authority should further raise awareness about the regional economic contributions of YeosuGwangyang port.
