구조방정식을 이용한 대학 교양영어 평가요인 탐색 연구

Exploring the evaluating determinants of general English courses using structural equation model

This study was intended to explore determinants students employ when they evaluate education of which they were the recipients. The determinants identified through factor analysis were then used as latent variables that affect the evaluation and satisfaction of the students. Data were collected from 450 college students in Gyeongnam province and 416 of these were considered to be valid. Amos program together with SPSS was used to analyze the data. The result of exploratory factor analysis shows that there are four determinants such as 'digital environment,' 'instructor's competence and attitude,' 'teaching content,' and 'nature of class' for English education quality. With this factor analysis result, a research model was proposed with structural equation modeling approach. The results show that 'teaching content' is the most influential determinant followed by 'instructor's competence and attitude.' However, 'digital environment' and 'the nature of class' did not affect the evaluation and satisfaction of students. These results imply that students know what they want to learn and are able to identify the effective instructors. Thus, teachers need to be able to provide students with proper knowledge using effective teaching skills to make the English lessons valuable and satisfactory.
