시각장애 초등학생의 평면표현에 나타난 촉각의 특징과 의미

Characteristics and Meanings of Tactile Sense Shown Drawings by Primary School Students with the Blind

본 논문은 인간의 지배적 지각 방식인 시각이 없이 촉각을 중심으로 살아가고 있는 시각장애 초등학생의 평면표현을 통해 촉각은 평면표현에서 어떻게 드러나며 그것이 가지는 특징과 의미는 무엇인지 살펴보았다. 시각장애 학생들이 촉각으로 그린 평면표현의 특징은 사물의 주된 형(形)을 중심으로 표현하기, 사물의 다양한 면을 한 화면에 표현하기, 사물의 부분을 중심으로 표현하기, 사물이 입체라는 것을 나타내기 위해 주관적 표현하기, 사물의 세부까지 표현하기였다. 이러한 시각장애 학생들의 평면표현을 통해 찾을 수 있는 촉각의 지각으로서의 특징과 의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째 촉각은 평면표현에서 하나의 전형적 표현 방식을 가지지 않고 다양한 표현 방식을 가진다. 둘째 촉각은 사물의 부분을 중심으로 지각하고 표현한다. 셋째, 촉각은 사물과 거리가 사라진 접촉의 상태로 파악하기 때문에 사물을 대상화하지 않으며 사물 중심으로 지각한다. 넷째 촉각은 시간 속에서 사물을 만질 수 있기 때문에 시간과 공간을 동시에 한 화면에 펼쳐서 표현한다. 이와 같이 촉각은 구체적 물성과의 직접적인 접촉을 통해 세계를 능동적으로 체험함으로써 세계와 사물에 대한 구체적인 개념을 가지도록 한다. 촉각은 사물 자체를 충실히 이해하고 표현할 수 있도록 하고 평면표현에 여러 공간과 시간의 흐름을 포함시킴으로써 평면표현을 다양화시켜 시각중심의 지각과 표현을 확장시킬 수 있다.

This thesis aims to examine characteristics and meanings of tactile sense in drawings by primary school students with the blind. The characteristics of drawings expressed by the blind students through tactile sense are classified into five categories. Drawings were commonly name by centering around main shapes of an object, when they were drawn by using tactile sense. Secondly, drawings used tactile sesne was marked to express subjectivity to show 3D characteristics of an object. Also, drawings, which used tactile sense, were expressed from parts to the whole. Accordingly, the perceived sense through tactile sense naturally led to draw all directions of an object in space on 2D space. Also, subtle changes and detailed characteristics of an object were examined and expressed. The followings are characteristics and meanings of tactile sense that are found in drawings of vision impaired students. First, tactile sense is not limited to one typical type of expression. Secondly, tactile sense perceives and expresses an objective centering around on parts of an object. Thirdly, tactile sense identifies an object that distance of it disappears, so, it does not objectify but perceives centering around on an object. Fourthly, tactile sense can touch different sides of an object at the same time and the whole object through movement in times.
