<조생원전>의 이본 계열과 여성 독자층의 향유 의식

The Study on the Aspets and Enjoying Consciousness of the fair readers in a Different Edition of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon>

본 논문의 연구 목적은 국문 필사본만으로 현전하는 계모형 가정소설 <조생원전>의 이본을 대상으로 하여 이본 계열을 분류하고 여성 독자층의 향유 의식을 밝히는 것이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 아직 학계에 보고되지 않은 계명대ㆍ고려대ㆍ단국대ㆍ세종대ㆍ연세대 소장본을 포함한 41종의 <조생원전> 이본을 검토하고 결말의 형태를 기준으로 총 6계열로 분류했다. 이렇게 분류한 <조생원전>의 이본 계열에 함께 수록된 필사자의 이름, 편지, 가사, 소설 작품을 통해 여성 독자의 존재를 확인할 수 있다. 더구나 <조생원전>은 주인공인 조기순보다 그의 며느리인 장씨 부인의 활약이 부각되는 작품이다. 여성 독자층은 장씨 부인의 남편에 대한 열행과 자녀 교육관에 귀감이 되었을 것으로 생각된다. 여성 독자층의 향유 의식은 6계열로 분류한 <조생원전>의 이본 계열과 함께 수록된 필사기, 편지, 가사, 소설 작품에도 반영되어 있다. 또한 <조생원전>의 이본은 '~거동보소, ~볼작시면'과 같은 율문체로 구성된 작품이어서 낭독의 방식으로 향유되었을 가능성이 많다. <조생원전>의 이러한 향유 방식은 이본의 수가 증가되고 많은 수의 독자층을 확보하여, 또 다른 작품을 파생시키는 데 결정적인 영향을 미쳤을 것으로 생각된다.

This paper is a study on a different edition of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> and enjoying consciousness of the fair readers. <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> is the domestic novel of step-mother type and have been handed down form of Korean-manuscript. The different editions of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> have been handed down more than 70 books. And the different editions of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> that saved in the library of Keimyung University, Korea University, Dankook University, Yonsei University, Sejong Korea University are yet unknown. But in this paper includes the different editions of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> that saved in library of these. And the different 41 editions of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> divide into 6 classes and the others. In 6 classes and the others different editions includes name of transcription, letters, Ga-Sa, classical novels. And in name of transcription, letters, Ga-Sa, classical novels were confirmed the fair readers. Especially <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> is being magnified Jangssi's action who is Cho Gi-sun's daughter-in-law. Therefore I guess that <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> mainly fair readers get to read. Fair readers of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> were conerned Jangssi's action about her husband and son. Jangssi regain good reputation Cho Gi-sun's home that was disrupted. And Jangssi's education about son is different from Cho Gi-sun's married couple. Jangssi educate Cho Chun-haeng that moral rules to govern the Five Human Relations of master and servant, of father and son, of husband and wife, of brothers, of friends. So I guess fair readers of <Cho-Saeng- Won-Jeon> was exemplified herself about Jangssi's children's education. The different editions of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> have been handed down more than 70 books. So then <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> is popular novels to readers. The popularity of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon> was exerted influence on appearance of printed book <Ch o-Saen g-Wo n -J e on>, Yi -Hae -J o ' s<Gu -Eu i -San>, <Gim-Ssi-Yeol-Haeng-Rog>. Discussion of this paper will make a contribution to look deep into mutual relations manuscript of <Cho-Saeng-Won-Jeon>, <Gu-Eui-San>, <Gim-Ssi-Yeol-Haeng-Rog>.
