About a New Direction of Oral Literature Education in the University - Focused on the Example of ‘Myth Contents Lecture’

이 논문에서는 대학 국문학 교육의 목표가 학생들로 하여금 국문학의 명실상부한 전문가가 되어 현실사회 속에서 전문적 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 하는 데 있다는 전제 하에 대학 국문학 교육의 새로운 방향을 살펴보았다. 논문에서 주목한 것은 국문학에 대한 깊이 있는 이해를 문화콘텐츠의 기획과 연결하는 일이었다. 양질의 문화콘텐츠를 산출하는 것이 중요한 시대적 과제가 되어 있거니와, 콘텐츠에 국문학의 예술적생활적 힘을 불어넣는 것이 국문학 전문가의 역할이 된다. 필자는 국문학 수업을 통해 그 길을 다양하게 탐색해 왔거니와, 이 논문에서는 2006년 2학기에 수행한 ‘신화의 콘텐츠화’ 수업을 통해서 찾은 가능성과 방향을 제시하였다. 학생들은 국문학 탐구와 콘텐츠 기획을 결합하는 작업에 큰 관심과 흥미를 나타내면서 적극적으로 수업에 참여하여 주목할 만한 성취를 이끌어냈거니와, 그것은 학과 공부와 사회문화적 역할을 연계한 수업의 필요성과 가능성을 확인시켜 주는 의미 있는 과정이었다. 국문과 학생들로 하여금 학창 시절은 물론이고 졸업 이후에도 ‘문학적 삶’을 일구어내는 적극적 주체로 살아나갈 길을 열어준다고 하는 차원에서, 국문학 공부와 콘텐츠 기획을 연계하는 수업 방안은 앞으로 더욱 다양하게 모색될 필요가 있다.

The theme of this essay is the education of literature in the university. What should be the purpose of literature education? I think students should become specialists of literature and serve as specialists in real society. There are various ways of achieving this purpose. One way is to incorporate ‘cultural contents’ in literature education. I have given several lectures that have related cultural contents to works of literature. In this essay I introduce an example of ‘myth contents lecture' performed during the 2th semester of 2006. The theme of the lecture is associating cultural contents with Korean myths. As a result, I realized that the content planning lecture is a promising teaching methodology of literature education, especially regarding classical oral literature. Students showed a lot of interest and participated eagerly in the lecture which reflected in the quality of their work. I wish they would become specialists of Korean literature who play important roles in society. It requires further research to determine whether this methodology is effective in literature lectures to cultural contents.
