On The Study Of Gi Am Lee Jung Up

일본 제국주의의 야욕에 말미암아 우리의 최근세사는 파행과 굴절로 일관되었다 그러므로 근세기 지성사와 문학사틀 검토할 때 반일과 반제적인 성향을 지닌 인물이나 작품에 주목하여 그 의의를 점검하여 왔다. 그럼에도 전통적인 지성은, 최근세기에도 여전히 그 공능을 잃지 않고 있었던 것이 사실이다. 때문에 당대 지성사나 문학사를 재구할 때, 당대 상황에 대해 가열찬 응전을 보이는 작품군에만 관심을 할애하는 것은 당대의 실상을 온전히 복원하는 데에 장애가 되는 것이 사실이다. 이에 본고에서는, 특히 기암 이중업을 대상으로 하여, 당대 지성인이 내면화하였던 전통적인 자장과 작금의 현실에 대한 응전을 있는 그대로 드러내면서 균형 잡힌 검토가 필요함을 확인하도자 하였다. 이러한 시각 속에 당대 지성인에 대한 탐사가 축적된다면 우리 신문학사의 왜소성 극복에도 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단되며 나아가 전근대와 근대의 갈마듦에 대한 보다 유장한 시야에서의 관점 마련에도 기여할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

Gi Am Lee Jung Up(起岩 李中業) is a independence fighter in the 19th and 20th century of Chosun Dynasty. He was struggled with an Japanese imperialism. His father also was struggled with an Japanese imperialism. Therefore Gi Am Lee Jung Up(起岩 李中業)'s literature collection fills with a hostile feeling and wrath for Japanese imperialism. The other side, he regarded his cognition and thinking in the same light as traditional cognition and thinking. I think that the trend of study of the that period has been concentrated in people who struggled with an Japanese imperialism. But the fact that a traditional intellectual Gi Am with the traditional knowledges had showed the criticism of the despotism of his society by Japanese imperialism says to us that the territory of study have to be widened. In the end, based on the study of Lee Jung Up, general characteristics of literary phenomenon by traditional highbrow in the 19th and 20th century also could be examined.
