전기소설에서 '전기성(傳奇性)'의 변천과 의미

The changes of generic traits in Jeon-gi novels(傳奇小說) and its meanings

17세기 이후 소설들에서는 현실에 대한 통속적 수용이 발견된다. 이것의 시학적 모태는 전대의 소설양식이었던 전기소설에서부터 마련되었을 것이다. 그 과정을 이 논문에서는 전기소설의 예술적 기제로서 '전기성'의 변천에서 찾고자 한다. 이를 위해 <만복사저포기>, <이생규장전>, <하생기우전>, <최척전>에 등장하는 비일상적인 면모를 '기이'라는 개념으로 파악하여 그것의 차이와 의미를 밝힌다. <만복사저포기>ㆍ<이생규장전>에서 기이는 이원적 세계상에서 비롯된다. 그리고 이것은 인간의 욕망과 사회적 조건에 대한 성찰적 태도에 바탕을 두고 있다.<하생기우전>에서도 기이는 이원적 세계상에서 비롯된다. 그러나 이것은 현실에 대한 반성 없이 인간의 욕망을 추수하는 몰각적 태도에 바탕을 두고 있다. <최척전>에서 기이는 인물이 모진 고난을 뚫고 욕망을 실현하는 과정에서 비롯된다. 이것은 현실의 가치체계를 당위로 재확인하는 보수적인 태도에 바탕을 두고 있다. 이러한 전기성의 변천은 고소설사에서 현실 문제에 대한 보수적ㆍ통속적 수용을 위한 시학적 모태의 형성과정으로 자리잡게 된다.

We can find a popular reception to the real in the navels after 17th century. The poetic basis for that might be arranged in the pre-17th genre, Jeon-gi Novels(傳奇小說). I intend to show it through the changes of generic traits in Jeon-gi Novels. For this, I call 'Gi-yi'(奇異) for a concept of the unusual, extaordinary and fantastic things in <Mahn-bok-sa-jeo-po-gi>(萬福寺樗蒲記), <Yi-saeng-gyu-jang-jeon>(李生窺墻傳), <Hah-saeng-gi-woo-jeon>(何生奇遇傳), <Choi-cheok-jeon>(崔陟傳). And I analysis the differences and meaning of it. The Gi-yi arise from the dual world and is on the basis of reflective attitude toward the desire of human and the society in<Man-bok-sa-jeo-po-gi>(萬福寺樗蒲記), <Yi-saeng-gyu-jang-jeon>(李生窺墻傳). In <Hah-saeng-gi-woo-jeon>(何生奇遇傳), the Gi-yi arise from the dual world too, but is on the basis of disregardful attitude toward the desire of human and the society. In <Choi-cheok-jeon>(崔陟傳), the Gi-yi arise from the process that hero and heroin satisfy the desire in spite of every adversity. And it is on the basis of conservative attitude of reconfirming what exist as what should be. Such changes of Gi-yi in Jeon-gi Novels(傳奇小說) take place of the poetic ground for popular and conservative reception to the real in the history of Korean old Novels.
