A Study of Strategies for Activating MICE Industry in Incheon Based on Value Chain Analysis

This study intended to suggest strategies for activating MICE industry in Incheon based on the value chain analysis of MICE industry in the region. To achieve the objectives of the study, the framework of analysis regarding the value chain of MICE industry was developed based on document research on the concept and effect of MICE and on the value chain and structure of MICE industry and the strategies for activating MICE Industry in Incheon were discussed based on the value chain analysis on the MICE industry in Incheon. The strategies for activating MICE Industry in Incheon based on value chain analysis were suggested as supporting activities and main activities. Strategies suggested as supporting activities included the development of international conference complex, integration of administrative organizations for the promotion of MICE industry, development of MICE ecosystem through the promotion of MICE related businesses, and development of a network for fostering MICE related manpower and intensifying their professionalism. Strategies suggested as main activities included the securing of the systemicity of policy in establishing MICE activation plan, implementation of MICE industry specialization strategies, public relations and guidelines for intensifying urban marketing, functional connection between regions, intensification through MICE View, and intensification of tour packages in connection with MICE.
