A study on Differences of Satisfaction By the Characteristics of V-train Users

The purposes of this study were to analyze differences in satisfaction according to the characteristics of V-train users and provide implications to local governments attempting to introduce a tour train. As a result, there were significant differences in the level of satisfaction according to such user characteristics as age, place of residence, and means of transportation. Those who were aged 40 or younger recorded a higher level of satisfaction than those who were aged 50 or older. Individual tourists showed a greater satisfaction level in place of residence and means of transportation than group tourists. Based on those findings, the study offered the following implications and suggestions: first, there is a need to create marketing strategies by taking into consideration the characteristics of tour train users. Considering the high number of female tourists in their fifties or older, it is necessary to revamp the wrapping and interior design of tour trains and maintain the surroundings of stations. Secondly, local governments need to maintain the traffic signs to the departure stations and increase promotional marketing for the tour train itself and number of its operation when trying to introduce tour trains. Finally, short-distance users regard the tour train as a tour package, whereas long-distance users take it as one of the components of tour package. It is thus required to induce their revisits with a strategy of linking tour train with various cultural and ecological tourism resources and experiential programs in the community rather than focusing on the visible results of tour trains.
